Volunteering
Almost all of the work of CPRE Somerset is done by unpaid volunteers. Volunteering does NOT mean a full time job! We are extremely grateful for whatever time and skills people can offer and you really don’t need to be an expert.
Active involvement provides an excellent way for you to pursue a particular interest with the back-up of a well regarded organisation. We can even offer training, where appropriate. Volunteering for Somerset CPRE could be a rewarding hobby in your retirement or it could give you valuable work experience to start on the path towards a new career.
Examples of the type of work you could become involved in are:
- Fundraising
- Scanning weekly planning lists for your area
- Monitoring local press for relevant stories
- Writing press releases
- Writing newsletter articles
- Taking photpgraphs for us to use on the website and in our publications
- Where there are threats, raising CPRE Somerset’s concerns by contacting Councillors and attending Council meetings
- Contributing a particular area of expertise - such as transport, energy, minerals, housing, agriculture, waste
- Becoming a member of your District CPRE committee
- Recruiting new members by attending country fairs & events
