Save Our Somerset Countryside Appeal

Did you know that every year CPRE Somerset gets involved with around 70 complicated, controversial, and unwelcome planning applications affecting Somerset’s countryside and villages?  Could you help to give us a stronger voice?

A Stronger Voice

Every week our volunteers scan the planning lists for major new development proposals and we also respond to requests for help from our members and the public.

This year, we took the bold decision to take on some professional planning help and we believe this is making a big difference. Liz Payne, our Planner, is working alongside our hardworking volunteers so they are now even better equipped to tackle planning applications.  We now have a stronger voice in standing up for Somerset’s countryside and are able to present detailed evidence and policy reasons to back up our arguments.

However, this does mean that we have to draw on our funds, and our cash flow is very tight. That is why we are appealing for a little extra help. We are grateful for members’ subscriptions and your loyal support but our costs are increasing. We are now appealing for small donations to help meet our ongoing costs, especially towards funding our professionally-qualified planner.  With your help we can continue to present strong planning reasons to argue against inappropriate developments that not only take up greenfields but unbalance communities and result in unsustainable settlements.

Please could you give a small donation to our fighting fund to Save Our Somerset countryside?

If you feel you could help us with this work and really want to protect your countryside, we would greatly value whatever help you can give us. Please complete the slip attached below, and, if possible, tick the Gift Aid box (we can obtain an additional 25p in the £1 on your contribution).

Your help and support to us would be so very much appreciated.

thank you
