2020 Photography Competition

Reasons To Be Cheerful – images to keep us going in these challenging times.

2020 has been like no other year. We are all facing unprecedented restrictions on our daily lives due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our freedom to go outside has been extremely limited and, for some, a trip out of the home may still cause anxiety and worry.
But, we all know how wonderful it can be to be in the great outdoors and that even the smallest details can be fascinating and uplifting. That’s why we launched our 2020 photo competition in April with the theme – “Reasons To Be Cheerful” and with a prize of £100 for the winner.
We asked people:
  • If you’re able to get out in nature, in a way that keeps you and others around you safe, why not take some photos and send them to us to share?
  • If you can’t get out and about, you could still send in pictures from your garden or even the view from your window.
  • Or you could send in a favourite photo you took in the last 2 years.

We asked you to share  photos of the little things about the countryside that kept you going in these difficult times and we have really enjoyed seeing the wonderful images sent in from all over Somerset – including your local favourite places and the birds, beasties and bugs in your gardens and allotments.

The closing date was 31st August 2020 so we are now gathering all our entries together and will be asking our 3 judges to choose their favourites in the next few weeks.  Watch this space for the announcement of our lucky winner.
