Cleaner countryside

Litter spoils our enjoyment of the countryside and can be harmful for wildlife and people. We’re working towards a litter-free countryside for everyone.

We run projects, activities and campaigns all across the country to reduce litter, working with local partners and empowering communities to clean and celebrate their much-loved landscapes. Join us in making our countryside healthy, clean and tranquil.

Here in Somerset, we hate litter and we want to do something about it! That’s why we are proud to announce or new Somerset #2minute Litterpick Project and we hope you will become a part of it. Funded by a grant from national CPRE, we are recruiting a small army of 100 #2minute Litterpicking Volunteers who will carry out regular clean ups of their local patch. We can kit you out with your very own litterpicker, hi vis vest, CPRE bag and gloves – you just need to commit to doing a regular litterpick locally and to keep in touch with us.

We have set up our own Facebook Group especially for our volunteers and we are encouraging all our #2minute LItterpickers to sign the Somerset Waste Pledge Against Preventable Plastic. We also plan to run an event for our volunteers in 2021 to share ideas and experiences.

So – If you live in Somerset and can spare 2 minutes regularly to help reduce litter and pollution in your countryside, we would love to hear from you.

We will also be placing #2minute litterpick stations at 5 key visitor locations so everyone can join in and do their bit to keep Somerset beautiful and clean. Watch this space for news of where these will be sited.
