CPRE Somerset: Love Your Countryside Awards

Mike Lanning

Our new awards will shine a light on inspiring projects that are helping to protect what matters, to regenerate what’s been lost and to allow us to connect to the places that sustain us all.

For a century, CPRE has helped shape the countryside that we know today – from campaigning for National Parks to protecting hedgerows and dark skies. Our history is proof that when the countryside needs a voice, people step up and make change happen. Our centenary is more than a celebration, it’s a call to take action.

That’s why, to mark our centenary, we are launching the new CPRE Somerset: Love Your Countryside Awards.

  • Do you know a project that’s making a difference?
  • Are you part of a group doing something great for the countryside?

We’d love you to apply or nominate a project for this year’s awards. It’s a great way to share your story, inspire others, and get the recognition your work deserves.

Enter by 30th April 2026

Projects will be assessed by a panel of judges.

What we are looking for

There are five categories of award you can enter, but all entries must meet the following general criteria:

  • All projects should involve improvements to the rural environment, whether natural or built.
  • Projects should demonstrate sustainability in their construction, use and management.
  • Projects should be visible from public places or have some sort of opportunity for the public to experience them eg at specific events, or by arrangement.
  • Innovation in achieving these criteria will be particularly welcome.
  • Public, private, commercial and partnership projects are eligible.

How you can take part

From January until 30th April 2026, you’ll be able to nominate a project that’s making a real difference in Somerset’s countryside and communities. Whether it’s a local green space, a community initiative, or a nature-friendly business – if it’s helping the countryside thrive, we want to hear about it!

How to enter is simple

Choose the right category, fill in a few details about the project, and upload some photos to bring it to life.

  • Projects must be within the administrative county of Somerset.  NB: this does not include B&NES or North Somerset as they are outside our patch.
