Congratulations to the winners of our “My Somerset – at work, rest & play” photo competition”

Thank you so much to everyone who entered our competition this year. The quality and number of entries has been better than ever before and we have loved seeing all the entries coming in over the last few months.  Our judges had a difficult task but we now have our winners who will receive a £100 prize.

The adult category winner is “Fun in the meadow, Stogumber” (above) by Pauline Watling. The judges felt that this picture really sums up the joy and freedom of bring outdoors in the Somerset countryside.

Pauline said: “I am so delighted to win this wonderful competition. Stogumber Wild Flower Meadow has been a highlight of my year since they started the project. This year, in particular, was even better, as my small granddaughter Milly was present. She was really exhilarated at the beautiful show of flowers and I was fortunate to have captured the moment, which I will treasure forever.”

Our winner in the Under 18s category is “Dragonfly enjoying the nettles” by Estella Fawden, aged 11.  Our judges praised the quality of the image and felt it showed how taking time to notice the small things in life can be really special.

Estella said “Wow! This is great news! I can’t believe I actually won! I love taking photographs, especially of the wildlife and flowers in our garden. We have quite a few wild areas and are lucky enough to have a stream so we have quite a few visitors such as dragonflies, bats, hedgehogs, butterflies, bees and more.”

Many congratulations to Pauline and Estella. Thanks must go to our judges, Kit Houghton, Andrew Lee and Chris Lewis.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
